Elizabeth Oakes began her career as a labor and employment attorney in San Francisco, California in 1994. In that position, she successfully represented clients in a variety of employment matters, including discrimination, sexual harassment, unlawful termination and wage-and-hour claims. Ms. Oakes also worked within the federal Judiciary for several years, assisting U.S. Magistrate Judge Wayne D. Brazil of the Northern District of California with hundreds of federal cases.

Ms. Oakes graduated with High Honors from the University of Florida in 1978, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Journalism and Communications. She earned her Juris Doctor in 1994 from the University of California-San Francisco Hastings College of the Law. She is admitted to practice in both California and Florida and is a member of the Florida Chapter of the National Employment Lawyers Association, the Jacksonville Bar Association, and the Jacksonville Women Lawyers Association.

Ms. Oakes, her husband Michael, and their two young sons enjoy exploring Florida's beaches and other natural wonders.
